Celebrating Student Achievement to Start the 3rd Quarter
Posted on 07/01/2015

Students received honors for their hard work in the second quarter this past Wednesday. In all, we presented 77 awards (ribbons and certificates) to those students who earned high honors and who made significant academic improvement from the first to the second quarter.

In Chapel Wednesday, we took the opportunity to show spirit and celebrate our great achievers from the 2nd quarter. Teachers and student-leaders took to the podium to introduce members of the class who had earned A-Honors for having a 2nd quarter GPA between 4.0 - 3.5, B-Honors for a GPA between 3.49 - 3.0, and Improvement Honors for having improved at least a half of a GPA point, which essentially means moving your grades up one letter grade (from C's to B's), from the 1st to the 2nd quarter. Our teachers chose to comment on the habits that are making our highest earners so successful in hopes of inspiring the audience and in praise of their students. We were especially proud of the high number of students who earned distinction after the 2nd quarter as we often see a trend of grades going down after the first quarter. We look forward to a challenging 3rd quarter and having our students show a lot of grit in these important months.
